We finally have something for the sip portion of the website. This is one of Rob’s wonderful contributions. We used La Fantasia Rose Wine from Castello di Amorosa in Calistoga, California when we made this last week. A wonderful wine on its own or in this lovely sangria.
1 pound strawberries
2 teaspoons sugar (to taste)
1/8 cup Limoncello (or lemon flavored vodka)
1/8 cup Chambord (Raspberry Liqueur)
1/4 cup of brandy
juice of 2 – 3 limes
1 bottle of Rose Wine, can be sparkling or still (preferably dry)
12 – 24 ounces 7-Up or Seltzer water (your choice depending on desired sweetness)
- Slice strawberries and add sugar. Place half the strawberries in a large pitcher.
- Puree the other half of the strawberries (small food processor works great). Add the strawberry puree to the pitcher with the sliced strawberries.
- Add the Limoncello, Chambord, brandy, and lime juice to the pitcher with the strawberry mixture. This mixture can be prepared in advance and let it chill for 2 – 3 hours to let all the flavors get happy. But if you don’t have the time, it will still be amazing.
- Add the wine, 7-Up, and ice to pitcher (I used 4 big whiskey cubes). Stir and serve.
